BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and offBASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Guangdong Verbund site project would be BASF’s largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. The site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide, and will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards.

Main Tasks

- The role of a DCS expert in the Global Technical Expertise Center is crucial in various aspects. They are responsible for providing strategic services, creating and implementing the primary services roadmap, collaborating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and technical communities, and maintaining the corporate technical regulations in the Automation field. Additionally, they are responsible for the continuous growth and retention of the expertise team, keeping up with the latest technologies, and contributing to BASF's success in delivering exceptional solutions, to maintain its position as an industry leader.
- Strategic service delivery: Capture specific needs of internal customers, consolidating lesson learnt in daily work, best practices / proposals / technologies from suppliers or other outsources, to develop solutions most fit for purpose.
- Primary service assessment: Understand current services/skills team available. Mapping the customer needs to current capabilities, state-of-the-art technologies, and market trend. Develop roadmap and implement, for sustainable expertise growth.
- Internal partnership: Collaborate with cross-region and cross-functional teams for strategic solution development and integration. Collaborate with regional expertise teams to drive strategic topics. ing experience exchange and sharing best practices within Global Technical Expertise Centers, Regional Technical Expertise Centers, and ODs. Maintain an expert network to realize a truly global technical expertise verbund. Coordinate the DCS relevant activities in the global/regional technical community.
- External partnership: Participate in industry events and conferences. Conducting market screening and driving technology development within the DCS discipline.
- Knowledge retention: Protect BASF know-how and confidential information while supporting knowledge retention e.g. by internal train plans and training materials preparation.
- Technical rules: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, procedures, and guidelines etc.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's degree or above in process control / automation or related field.
- Working Experience: 12+ years' total work experience mandatory.10+ years' work experience in specific professional field (in DCS) mandatory.8+ years' work experiences in chemical and petrochemical industry mandatory. Product/Solution management experience in specific professional field (in DCS) preferable. International experience is an advantage.
- Profound knowledge in petrochemical/chemical field and its methods, program management.
- Extensive experience in DCS design and development.
- Deep understanding of system architecture, programming, control communication and system integration.
- Proficient knowledge in digital communication protocols such as Profinet, OPC UA etc. and basic knowledge of emerging technology Ethernet APL (Advanced Physical Layer) and MTP (Module Type Package)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative. Strategic thinking mindset. Innovative, willingness to pursue emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
