This Opportunity
The SJ landscape team is looking for an experienced intermediate landscape architect to work closely with the senior landscape architect and to be responsible for developing initial concepts through design development to construction and working drawing production. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong design- conceptualization skills and graphic production skills including 2D and 3D computer rendering. Candidates must be detail oriented; efficient; adaptable to changing deadlines and priorities; and work well collaboratively. This Individual is expected to think critically and contribute creatively to the design process.
Specific Position Responsibilities
• Collaborate with other design disciplines within the Shanghai office as well as other SJ offices globally.
• Communicate closely with the senior landscape architects and planning leadership to implement the team vision while working independently on a day-to-day basis.
• Keep current in globally design trends and issues.
• Provide mentoring to promote succession for the junior team members
• Participate and oversee the development of design concept direction through implementation into subsequent production and construction stages.
• Develop modern design concepts, graphic and presentation materials as required.
• Implement technical design and drawing production as required.
• Ability to Present (bilingual support may be role in delivering design) at client, investor and consultant meetings on SJ’s behalf, ensuring all coordination takes place and ensuring project execution complies with design as much as possible.
Skills and knowledge
• Strong conceptual design knowledge, with strong graphic communication skills including development of hand sketches.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong and positive leadership and interpersonal qualities.
• Proficiency in presentation graphics software, including Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Proficiency in 3-D modeling programs such as Sketch Up and 3D Max, Rhino, grasshopper
• Proficiency in drafting using AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of local construction industry and plant materials.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Landscape Architecture; overseas experience preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of design and management experience in landscape & planning architecture in Asia and China experience is a plus.
• Experienced in project management and excellent time management for design deliverables with exposure to all types of projects especially in hospitality and healthcare projects.
• Strong design presentation and client management skills.
• Excellent hand graphics and strength in formulating design concepts for projects.
• Ability to digest and interpret design concepts and directions from Principal and proceed with design development.
• Responsible, hardworking and self-motivated.
• Willing to travel.
